UMD professor developed apples for the DMV, McD’s Mambo sauce is spicy, and the Gibson is closing.
- University of Maryland professor Chris Walsh has been studying and growing apples for more than 30 years. He has finally developed a strain that will thrive in this region. The university recently secured patents for one yellow and one red apple that are known for now as MD-TAP1 and MD-TAP2, respectively. The red MD-TAP2 (which stands for “Maryland Tree Architecture Program) is a descendant of the Fuji apple. [WTOP]
