Is a loss to the Eagles a “moral victory” for the Washington Commanders? Kind of.

  • There are no moral victories in the NFL, Commanders coach Ron Rivera acknowledges. But a 34-31 overtime loss to the Eagles in Philadelphia apparently doesn’t sting quite as much. [Post]
  • The Wizards will start training camp without center Daniel Gafford, and guard Landry Shamet. Gafford sprained his left elbow, and Shamet broke his left big toe during voluntary pickup games. Both players are expected to miss the first two to four weeks. [Post, Bullets Forever]
  • The Nats season ended on Sunday, and manager Davey Martinez is choosing a glass-half-full outlook. The sixth-year manager led his team to more than 70 wins this year (71-91)—15 more games than they won last year. [Federal Baseball]
