Nats want D.C. to pay for a new scoreboard, skateboarders have something to say about RFK, too, and new bill would allow patrons to sue bars for overservice.

  • The Washington Nationals are clamoring for a new scoreboard and other improvements at Nats Park, so they’ve pitched Mayor Bowser and other city officials on repurposing tax money meant to repay debt on the stadium into a new maintenance fund. Bowser believes her pursuit of the Commanders has helped bring the city’s other sports teams, including the Caps and the Wizards, back to the table for negotiations about stadium renovations. [Post]
  • More than two dozen skateboarders attended Wednesday’s community meeting on RFK, hoping to hear the mayor address the future of Maloof Skate Park should the property ever be redeveloped. “Mayor Bowser didn’t give us the respect of five minutes,” one skater said. “It was all about money.” [Informer]
  • Ward 2 Councilmember Brooke Pinto and At-Large Councilmember Christina Henderson are backing a bill to limit the ability of patrons to sue bars for overserving them. Hospitality industry veterans say this would drive down D.C.’s sky-high insurance costs, but attorneys pressing such cases think the legislation is poorly crafted. [The Wash]
